If there is a deficiency of Vitamin C and E along with protein, your hair will fall out: Dr. Sarmil Kumar Dietician

If your hair falls too much or turns white before time, then this post is for you.

Strong, thick, and beautiful hair enhances everyone’s personality and also boosts your confidence. But nowadays, everyone complains that their hair is falling too much or turning white rapidly.

Causes:

Smoking/Pollution: Nicotine (tobacco) affects the roots of your hair. Pollution and improper care lead to hair turning white.

Prolonged illness, major surgery or severe infection can lead to a deficiency of nutrients in the body, causing hair loss.

Sudden changes in hormone levels (PCOD/ PCOS) can also cause hair to turn white and fall out.

The scalp may get infected with a specific type of fungus, causing hair with roots to fall out.

After giving birth, women may experience hair loss if they do not receive proper nutrition.

Changing or stopping contraceptive pills can lead to hair loss.

Due to disorders such as pituitary, thyroid disorders, syphilis or infection, hair may fall out or turn white prematurely.

According to Dr. Sarmil Kumar, the primary cause of hair loss is incorrect diet and an unhealthy lifestyle. People troubled by hair loss often start trying various remedies but overlook the deficiencies of essential nutrients in their bodies.

Imbalanced diet: Often, teenagers become victims of eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Those affected by these disorders prefer limited and highly selective foods, leading to a deficiency of essential nutrients and causing hair loss or premature graying.

Vitamin D: A deficiency of vitamin D, zinc, and selenium in the body can cause hair loss.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C not only boosts the overall immune system but also controls free radicals that hinder hair development. Vitamin C contains antioxidants that help in keeping the scalp healthy and eliminating free radicals, preventing hair loss.

Vitamin E: Vitamin E works similar to vitamin C. It is rich in antioxidants and reduces oxidative stress, reducing hair loss.

Vitamin B: A deficiency of vitamin B and biotin can halt hair growth, leading to hair turning white and falling out.

Protein: Every part of the body is made up of protein, and a lack of protein can affect not only hair but also the overall maintenance of the body. Therefore, it is essential to have an adequate amount of protein in the body.

Mental stress: If a person experiences excessive stress or remains in depression, hair whitening or hair loss issues often begin during stress.

Do this activity: Keep your head clean (hair care), exercise, use mild shampoo and conditioner, and consume a nutritious diet. Consult a dietitian to understand the proper intake of essential vitamins. Include deep green and yellow fruits and vegetables, sprouted whole grains and soya products in your diet. If your hair is falling too much, start taking appropriate food supplements without delay.

You may have heard that amla (Indian gooseberry) is beneficial for hair. This is true. So, boil dried amla in water. Boil it until only half remains. Mix henna and lemon juice in it. Apply this mixture to your hair. It is believed that doing this stops premature graying of hair.

Similarly, always wash your hair with cold and clean water for hair care.
